October 1st: Group Discussion Notes/Brainstorming

Hello Team,

I am typing up ALL of my notes so that we can all have them to our disposal just in case we need to refer to them at any point.

The following was our initial Research/Brainstorming:

What 5- 7yr olds are like:
They like to fight
A lot of movement
Start creating their individual profiles (Less Parent Involvement)
Need Straight Access
Into Dolls
Into Kitchen Sets
Consider gender roles
Consider story telling

Future questions to consider:
How do they interact with other kids?
Do they like to be indoors/ outdoors?
How do they like to individualize themselves?
What target should we cater to?
How much action movement do they need?
What are they learning at 5-7yrs?

Product Category:
Game Consoles- Hand held
Puzzles
Robots
Dolls

Some Science Game

aliz~

From the first two pictures, kids can pick each leaf/seeds and color the toy to corporate with the seasons.

This one, kids can pull the handle out to show each growing stages of the tree and when it ends, (some engineering inside) will pull in back to original place.

A Chemical that will Trigger the Color

aliz~
"magic sets demonstrate several colors from colorless chemicals ... sodium ferocyanide and iron sulphate produce a deep blue. Phenolthaline produces a pink color with any alkali which returns to colorless when nuetralzed with an acid, and litmus paper and some dyes change color when made slightly acid or slightly alkali"

Here you go, the special markers we were looking for. So, we have to research on this material further!

Crayola® Color Wonder™ Markers & Paper $9.99

Stretch Armstrong

E-bigmouth Doll

It made out of strechable cloth. We can reference this for the skin part (?).Link

My Hydra

aliz~

The idea is having the doll/robot strechable body part and for the engineering/mechanical parts will be inside. Imagine the bone of our body as the moving parts of the robot and having the flexible material for painting as our skin. I just don't want to be too much like a robot box thing nor the kidrobot shape. But another thought, it might be too much for this toy, lol.

How Further Technology Can Be?

aliz~

This will be the question we need to ask Prof. today. If we could use the new one that is not existing yet, this will be one of the good options. Scentsory folding phone from Nokia I have showed you guys before. It probably can be use in the screen part!

There are other good cellphones technology, too! The Channel Choco one is so cool.

Is this what we were sort of thinking about

Useful parts to consider in Robots

Skin Technology

aliz~

Some are from what we discussed in the last meeting and some I add up for more ideas.

[1] Customizing Skin Pattern; KIDROBOT concept

~ color appeared only on this object for cleanliness purpose
~ fade by time to make it more exciting for the kids (like they alway got a new toy)
*** I think we can just explain how it works without knowing whether the technology is exist or not or how it made out of.

[2] Soft & Flexible; GINA car concept

~ adjustable with inside structure, no hard surface (?) for safety

[3] Smooth & Flat Surface

~ for easy to wipe and clean
